Hello there and pleased to meet you.
Mischiefkids is an independent boutique selling children's European designer clothing and footwear since 1983.
We are based in Leigh, Lancashire in England (approx. 14 miles west of Manchester in the north-west region of England).
All the christening collections you see on this site are in the shop but, thanks to this wonderful 'thing' we call the Internet we can now share everything we have with you here.
Mischiefkids is not a huge shop, nor is it part of a 'chain' and we don't have a big distribution centre or warehouse.
Because we don't manufacture we can choose the cream of each collection we sell.
There are just the four of us:
Debra, Jean, Adam and me, (I'm Lynn) and we have worked together for almost 20 years and Adam has continued to work for us from leaving college.
Every customer (and we hope you will be one), is important to us and we will do everything we can to ensure that you enjoy shopping with us for years to come.

We allocate up to an hour for you to choose your outfit and accessories
Christmas and Bank Holidays Opening Times
Sorry but we do not open on Bank Holidays.
At Christmas we close at Lunchtime on Christmas eve (or Lunchtime on Saturday when Christmas Day falls on a Sunday or Monday).
We are then closed over the Christmas and New Year period.
We re-open on the first working day after New Years Day (i.e. the 2nd of January unless New Years Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday)
URGENT ORDERS
Although the shop is closed between Christmas and New Year, urgent online orders will still be processed and dispatched (subject to Royal Mail and Courier services operating)

VISITING THE MISCHIEFKIDS SHOP
Before you come:
Please check with your church on what colour they allow for christening. Every diocese/church is different and this is how they usually vary:
- Very strict accepting white only (quite rare these days but it is always best to check)
- Light colours only and with a white shawl (or something white) to be blessed (and the baby is then wrapped in the blessed item)

- Any colour accepted and no shawl required
If you would like to come to the shop to view all the gorgeous christening or communion outfits shown on this site then let me tell you how we work:
- Christenings and Communions are such an important occasion that we believe in trying to give you individual attention.
- While we cannot make the choosing of your outfit totally private we will do our best to only show the collections to one customer (and their partner etc) at a time.
- This means if we are already showing the collections to someone then you may be asked to wait (away from the counter please) or come back later.
- We do not show the Christening outfits after 4:00 pm (unless you already know which one you want) as it can take up to an hour (if we have queues we may have to limit this to half an hour)
- Unless you have already narrowed down your choice (from seeing the outfits on this site) then it will take a while to show you everything so we will first try to find out what type of outfit you are looking for.
For Communion dresses, we need the name of the church and date (so we don't duplicate).
- Although we (try to) keep all the sizes in stock in our stockrooms, until you have made your choice, the size you will be shown will be the smallest size we have in stock as, at this stage you will only be choosing the style and not the size.
- When we first show you the outfits we will show you them in their bags and ask you to say which outfits you want to see properly and these will then be put to one side.
- We are very protective of these beautiful garments and I am sure you will appreciate our care as no-one wants a christening or Communion garment which has been handled.
- Before we take the garments out of their bags we will cover an area of the counter in tissue.
- Please do not handle the garments, a little touch to appreciate the quality of the fabric is fine and we will be happy to provide a wet-wipe if you like.
- If you really do feel the need to hold the garment, please hold the coat hanger and not the garment itself. (We have been known to growl if customers insist on over-handling the garments).
- Once you have selected the outfit you want we will show you the sizes available.
- Sorry! but we do not allow the trying on of these garments although, once you have decided which one you want, you can try on that one to make sure of the fit so:
For Christening and Special Occasion for Babies
If you wish to try on your final choice, please bring a clean bib for babies.
To make it easier working out the size you need, please bring an oufit your child is currently wearing we can then compare this to the outfits you like
For Communion dresses
Clean hands etc are a must (especially if coming straight from school) and no make-up (yes we have had customers bring in a child wearing make-up)
- After you have chosen the outfit you would like we can then help you match it up with any accessories.
Hopefully you will have now selected everything you need for your special day.
